The Challenge

Agrifood value chains generate significant by-products and processing residues that are often underutilised. When not properly managed, these streams can increase disposal burdens, contribute to resource losses, and reduce the sustainability of local food systems.

At the same time, higher education and innovation ecosystems may lack practice-oriented training pathways and strong linkages to market and stakeholder needs.

Our Mission

To strengthen higher education and innovation ecosystems that enable the sustainable conversion of agrifood by-products into value—through modern learning, hands-on practice, and entrepreneurship pathways aligned with real-world needs.

Our Vision

A regional ecosystem where universities, industry, and communities collaborate effectively to create market-relevant circular bioeconomy solutions.

Objectives

What AGROW-HUB Aims to Achieve

AGROW-HUB focuses on measurable capacity-building outcomes across education and innovation

1

To modernise higher education curricula in agriculture and engineering with circular bioeconomy principles.

2

To establish 'Living Labs' in partner universities for hands-on student training and industry collaboration.

3

To create innovation hubs that support students and researchers in launching agrifood start-ups.

4

To foster a cross-regional network of universities and SMEs for ongoing knowledge exchange.

5

To promote social inclusion by empowering women and rural youth through targeted skills development.
